Re “A major street has become a major embarrassment” (Letters, Jan. 7):

Although Michael Friedman writes about the need for beautification of Hawthorne Boulevard in Rancho Palos Verdes, unfortunately, the problem is more extensive. Hawthorne Boulevard through Torrance is also in need of beautification. They may be resurfacing the road, but with the refurbishment of the Del Amo mall, we need to update the streetscape and hardscape to match.
